Gecko is a serie of Kontakt instruments that sound amazing. I just tried complex environment and the glitchy rythmer … it sounds really cool. I will be using the complex environment in my next track. Very light and easy to play with, you can take this on a laptop and a korg nano pad and kontrol, and just enjoy the sounds.

There we go! After the “Drums of War” that was released a while ago, Cinesamples has worked on a much much more extensive cinematic drums library “Drums of War 2″ and really came out with a fantastic product!

It’s well focussed, brilliantly sampled and it’s innovative. (I love the crescendo mapping, the 10xRR and all the keyswitches programmed for the effects!)

I am already using it in my next composition

Full new instrument from Vir2, and it’s not a gadget, really?
Q has twenty-three main categories. Here you start thinking do they have an organization problem? Well the thing is they have the ambition to cover a lot of very diverse sounds for movie sound effects.

Honestly, very often, when one tries to do too much, it ends up being superficial. I haven’t tried this library, but i am suspecting it has the same flaw. Just a suspicion really.
Some things do sound good to my ears though, when i read Granular Orchestra or Hong Kong Cinema sounds … curious to find out what’s in there.

For sure the interface looks good, the sounds sound good, and they end up with a very professional looking product, as Vir2 always does, so … who wants to try and give some feedback?

I have decided to capture pictures of some artisans around me, while they are performing their activities. This is the first movie. That one is about a ceramicist called Fabienne Guyomarch. (also see www.fabienne-guyomarch.ch), creating some vases. I filmed her, interviewed her (she hated that part and insisted her face wasn’t going to be visible), then I captured some sounds and composed the music. After that, it was just about putting it all together.

As we are both french speaking, this is in french. If you REALLY don’t understand french, then you can watch it here with english subs:
http://www.vimeo.com/11778798

What i used: Canon 7D + 24-70mm, FCP, MagicBullet looks (just for a few shots) AE for the titles. Cubase 5, Studio One (just to test, and it was really good), I used clay sounds of my own and also FHP clay sounds. I added winds (mostly from the hollywood winds library) and also some strings from LASS. I also used the double bass harmonica from Cinematic Instruments.and a Mac (actually 2, a Macbook Pro and a MacPro)

I Hope you like it. I was tempted to bring the music in different tracks…. since this file is a collection of all the cues mixed down all together, …. but just looking a the sound wave above, you can probably tell when the cues are changing, so play around and find something you like. Hopefully there is …

One of my current project is to score a little documentary about a ceramist. My track is coming out pretty nice: i’ve been sampling some sounds and mixing it with my flying hand percussion library. It makes a real ceramic drum pattern. The rest will be piano based, with some layered pads and deep bass. I added a rhodes today from omnisphere and all this sounds pretty cool together. Will be finishing the track this week-end, but the documentary will be published here only after the geneva ceramic expo because the works filmed in this short movie is the original work and cannot be displayed before the expo (april 21th). I’ll let you know when it’s released.

ha! i’ve been working on two parallel projects these days: on of them is called “rusty” and i’ve been sampling some old metal and shooting some nice videos. The second projects is a modest documentary about a ceramist. I sampled clay sounds (still ongoing) and it sounds quite promising. At least of of the projects will be released after Easter, the second one should be a few weeks later. A third project is coming soon, another documentary about a very creative florist…

Here’s a little clip of some pics taken in the snow. And playing aroud with some bleach bypass effects to make the nice pics a little more dramatic. For the night shots, i noticed too late that i had forgotten to switch to M mode, and then the ISO went all the way up to 3200 … so it’s a bit grainy. I will be more careful next time.

I composed the music with some tonehammer libraries, omnisphere and also using my own snow samples and putting them in Battery3 with the audiodamage pluggin “ricochet”. I also used Tonehammer’s sound libraries, omnisphere and the guitars are from Cinesamples Iron Guitars.
